Are you moving your website to a new host and need to transfer your domain? You may have found a better domain registration agreement. However, transferring your domain is a simple process, but it usually takes several days for all parties to approve the transfer. The first part of two:

Leaving  your old domain registrar

  1. Make sure the latest contact information. During the transfer process, we will contact your new registrar. You use contact information that is registered in your domain. You can update your contact information through your current registrar's domain control panel.                                                                                                                                                                          If you don't remember who your current registrant is, you can look for it
Search WHOIS on your domain.

     3.    Set up e-mail with other services. Many people use email services that refer to their domain. During the domain transfer process, you tend to lose access to email services for your domain name. Make sure you have a different email account, such as: For example, a Gmail or Yahoo account that you can use as a secondary communication tool.
Be sure to set this email as a contact email in your domain registration information.
Ask the domain for activation. The process varies depending on the current registrant. However, you can usually unlock your domain through the Domain Control Panel of the domain domain. Send this request to your current domain registrar.


      4.      Request an authorization code. Each domain must provide this code within five days of your request. For some registrars, you can code in the control panel while others send it via email. In general, you can request code from the same tab in the control panel that you use to unlock the domain.
This code is needed to transfer your domain.


       5.        Make sure you haven't transferred your domain recently. You cannot transfer your domain if it has been created or transferred in the last 60 days. These are ICANN requirements (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), organizations that manage Internet addresses.

The second part of two:

Transfer your domain

           1.        Read your new registrar's support page. The process of transferring your actual domain depends on the service you are transferring. Read the transfer instructions on the new registrar's support page for the right instructions.
Visit the new registrar's transfer page. You may need to create a registrant account before you can access this page. You will usually find the "Domain Transfer" section in your new registrar's control panel. Or, you can start the process when creating an account.
You may need to contact a registrant assistant to make a transfer if there are no options available on the website.


            2.         Enter the domain you are transferring. Make sure you specify the TLD (.com, .net, .org, etc.). You might be able to transfer multiple domains simultaneously. You don't have to enter
WWW. Part of the address.

             3.         Enter your authorization code. When prompted, enter the code you received from your old registrar. Make sure you enter the code correctly, otherwise the transfer will not be processed correctly.
Make sure you approve the transfer. Your old registrar will contact you to ask permission to transfer. You will be notified by email or call using information provided to your old registrar.
Here it is important to have the correct contact information. If you are not registered as a domain owner, you cannot contact us regarding transfers, even if you are the real owner.


              4.         Pay for transfers. Usually you have to pay to transfer your domain. Some services require automatic updates for the following year when you make a transfer. You can get a free transfer to register with a new registrar.
Wait until your settings are transferred. Your new registrar configures DNS and name servers after the transfer is permitted. After the transfer is made by a new registrar, it may take several days for DNA changes to be detected throughout the world. Your website must still be available.
The actual process depends on the selected registrar. This might include additional circles for authentication from new registrars. Details can be found on the new registrar's support page.
Decide whether you want a private domain. For some domain registrars, you can cover domain registration information so that your contact information is not available to the general public in WHOIS searches. Instead, your registrant's information will be displayed, hiding your name, telephone number, address and email address. General fees for personal registration are additional.

                5.         Cancel old service. After the transfer is complete, you can cancel the service with your old registrar. Make sure the transfer really works, or that your website can be downgraded until the transfer is valid throughout the world.
