What Is A Nigerian International Passport

With a well informed and organize the Nigerian passports (e-passport) are issued to Nigerian citizens before traveling outside of Nigeria. Nigeria now offers only electronic passports  for new passport applications. These electronic passports, also known as the e-passport, are classified as either Standard or Official e-passport, depending on intended use.



What are the Requirements?

When appearing at the immigration office, the requirements for the international passport are as follows:
For Adults (18 years and Above).

1. Completed passport application form
2. Two recent passport-size photographs
3. Proof of payment
4. Letter of ID from local government/ state of origin (valid staff ID card attached)
5. Birth certificate
6. Completed Guarantor’s form (with photocopy of data page of Guarantor’s Nigerian e-passport and one passport-size photograph of the Guarantor)
7. Marriage certificate (if applicable)
8. Name change affidavit (if applicable)
Minors (below 18 years of age):
1. Completed passport application form
2. One passport-size photograph (signed on reverse side by consenting parent/s)
3. Birth certificate
4. Evidence of Nigerian citizenship of parent/s
5. Letter of consent from both parents (valid court order if one parent is unavailable)
6. Proof of payment
*In the event that the child is adopted, a Court Order and Letter of approval from State Ministry of Women and Child Development is required.

How Much Does It Cost?
According to our Research The cost of the Nigerian international passport for the new 64-page passport is N70,000 with a 10 year validity period and N35,000 for five years. Applicants for the new 32-page passport with a five year validity period costs N25,000 at the Nigerian immigration service office as of 2019



HOW TO APPLY ONLINE

The Nigerian international passport (e-passport) application can be processed either online or offline.  Either way you choose to you will receive a hardcopy of your passport.
Online:
1. Visit the Nigerian Immigration Services home page
2. Locate & click on the appropriate application form to start the process:
i. e-Passport Application Form
ii. MRP - Passport Application Form (Not Applicable In All Missions)
3. Select processing country
4. Complete application form
5. Upload scanned copies of required documents
6. Select preferred payment method (payment can be made with Visa cards)
7. Once payment is completed, click “Submit”
8. You will be issued an Application ID and Reference number
9. Print out Guarantor’s
form and have it certified
10. Submit completed application form with additional required documents in person at your selected passport office
Once you have submitted your online application, you are required to appear in person at your specified immigration office for photographs and biometrics to be taken.



Offline:

If you’d prefer to submit your application through an agent in Nigeria, rather than online, please be aware that this process may take a lot longer.

Please Be careful for which agents you work with so as to avoid getting caught in fraud scams and documents getting lost. Even with an agent involved, you are still required to appear in person at the immigration office with your required documents. Unfortunately, gbojom  does not assist  in applying for a Nigerian international passport.
A new passport application takes around 48 hours to process after your biometric data has been captured. In some cases, it has been known to take up to a month to process, so make sure you apply well in advance.
Nigerians living abroad can apply for their international passport at their nearest consulate, or via the online application.
